Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has praised members of the Edo State House of Assembly for their cooperation with his administration, stating that their support has contributed significantly to the state’s development.
According to Punch Newspapers, Okpehbolo made the remark during an Easter visit by lawmakers led by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku in his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
The governor says the smooth working relationship between the executive and legislative arms since he assumed office has created a peaceful environment for governance, making it easier for his administration to implement policies and execute development projects.
“I am very happy since I assumed office; you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its set goals,” he said.
He added that the cooperation has translated into visible progress, particularly in ongoing infrastructure projects across the state.
Speaking earlier, Agbebaku assured the governor of the Assembly’s continued support, stressing that lawmakers remain committed to backing policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of Edo people.
The Speaker also commended the governor’s efforts in infrastructure development, especially the ongoing construction of a flyover, which he described as a landmark project.
The meeting highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between the executive and legislative arms, with the governor urging lawmakers to maintain the existing unity in the interest of the state’s continued growth.
In his closing remarks, Okpebholo urged lawmakers to remain united, stressing that continued peace and cooperation are essential for achieving more development across the state.
