Nigeria Customs Service Launches AI Training to Boost Revenue and Efficiency

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a capacity-building programme focused on artificial intelligence (AI)-driven revenue generation and reconciliation, in a move aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and trade management.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed that the initiative is designed to strengthen operational performance and enhance trade insights through the effective use of modern technology.

According to a post shared on the Facebook page of Voice of Nigeria, officials explained that the programme will equip personnel with relevant digital skills to improve service delivery and financial accountability within the service.

Lawmakers and stakeholders also commended the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction for strengthening public financial management. They, however, urged sustained collaboration, continuous training, and increased investment in capacity development to maximize the benefits of AI adoption.
