FCT Police Launch Welfare Bus Scheme for Personnel

By Balikis U. Omotola

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of a Police Welfare Bus Scheme aimed at easing transportation challenges for its personnel.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, and shared on its official Facebook page, FCT Command Abuja, the initiative was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and will begin operations on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said the scheme is designed to improve officers’ welfare and enhance their overall working conditions. He also commended the IGP for prioritizing the well-being of personnel.

As part of the rollout, three Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses have been deployed to operate along key routes within the FCT and surrounding areas.

One of the buses will run from the Goshen/Auta-Balefi axis through Masaka, Mararaba, and Nyanya, terminating at the Force Headquarters in Area 11, Abuja. Another will operate from Zuba, passing through Madalla, Abubakar Police Barracks, Brick City, Kubwa, Dutse Junction, and the Secretariat, also ending at Area 11. The third bus will depart from Kuje, covering Kuje Police Barracks, Airport Road, Lugbe, and the Stadium axis before arriving at the same destination.

All buses are scheduled to depart their starting points daily at 6:15 a.m.

Sanusi encouraged officers and men of the Command to take advantage of the scheme, noting that improved welfare would translate to better service delivery, discipline, and operational efficiency.
